Dr. Hamdi Sheikhsaid is an Emergency Medicine Resident at Hennepin Healthcare (HCMC) in Minnesota. She obtained both her medical and undergraduate degrees from the University of Minnesota. Driven by a profound commitment to serving her community, Dr. Sheikh Said has shaped her academic and professional journey around advancing the presence of the Somali community in the field of medicine.
Dr. Sheikh Said is passionate about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) work, exemplified by her role as Co-chair of the Diversity Committee at her residency at HCMC. In this capacity, she has spearheaded numerous initiatives to foster inclusivity and mentorship.
Her career goals include global medicine and pediatric emergency medicine. She hopes to one day practice in Somalia, where her aspirations extend to establishing an emergency medicine residency program. By leveraging the expertise of Somali doctors in the diaspora, she aims to bolster medical education and emergency care in the region, ultimately benefiting those back home.
