The Somali American Medical Association (SAMA)-UMN chapter is part of the SAMA national organization. Their mission is to support and empower Somali American medical students, promote health equity, engage with the local community, and foster professional development.

Minnesota has the largest Somali American community in the US, making it crucial to have representation in medical education. The SAMA-UMN chapter is dedicated to providing mentorship and networking opportunities to help pre-med and medical students excel in their medical journey and future professional careers. Their goal is also to reduce health disparities among minority communities in Minnesota through workshops and training programs for future physicians.
